Teaching
We place a large emphasis on the teaching of God’s Word. We teach verse by verse and chapter by chapter through books of the Bible. We strive to remain both biblically and doctrinally accurate while seeking to apply the truth of the Scriptures to everyday life.
Music
During our worship gatherings we dedicate a part of our time to congregational singing. Musical worship is just one way in which we unite in heart and purpose to joyfully express praise and adoration to God.
Prayer
Prayer is an essential part of our culture. In addition to corporate prayer, there are opportunities to come forward and receive personal prayer from our Pastors and prayer team at the end of all our worship gatherings.
Response
Our gatherings are designed to encourage response. After every sermon we give space for an extended time of worship to allow for response. At this time our Pastors and prayer team are available to pray with you.

Calvary Southeast is a community of Christ Followers. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such; only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ.
We believe that the only true basis of Christian community is Christ's love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves as Christians.
We hold to the inerrancy of Scripture. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. The scriptures are the authoritative and normative rule and guide of all Christian life, practice and doctrine.
Jesus is fully God and fully man. He was born of the virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us. After Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem. This enabled them to fulfill His command to preach His gospel to the entire world.
We believe that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin. However, salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of their sin and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit. All sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God.
We believe there is one God: infinite, eternal, almighty and perfect in holiness, truth and love. In the unity of the Godhead, there are three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-existent, co-equal and co-eternal.
We believe all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Scripture have not ceased. They are available today and are to be eagerly desired and practiced in submission to the Spirit speaking through the Scripture.
We await the pre-millennial, pre-tribulation return of Christ for His waiting Church. The second coming of Christ with His saints, to rule on the earth will be personal and visible. This motivates us to holy living, committed service, heartfelt worship, diligent study of God's word, regular fellowship, and participation in baptism and Holy Communion.
The Calvary Chapel movement was birthed out of the Jesus Movement in the 1960s in southern California. Pastor Chuck Smith led Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Our founding Pastor, Doug Snow, came to know the Lord through the ministry of Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel. In Doug’s senior year of college, while serving as an elder and worship leader at Calvary Chapel Portland, a small group of believers asked him to consider starting a home group with the idea of becoming a church. With encouragement from their church, in March of 1992, they began a Sunday evening Bible study in Gladstone, Oregon.
Initially, we went by the title of “Calvary Chapel North Clackamas,” but we changed our name several years later to “Calvary Chapel Southeast Portland” when we found ourselves in Southeast Portland. We moved to our present facility in Milwaukie in June of 2002. Over the years, through blessings and tribulations, God has patiently and graciously led this fellowship in His love and grace.
