Who We Are

Why We Exist

We are committed to being and making disciples. Disciples are people who are passionately in love with Jesus, that they have decided the most important thing in their lives is to learn how to do what He said to do.

We are also committed to helping people discover their gifts and callings, for the purposes of glorifying God in the world.

God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, invites us to join Him in the process of sharing the glorious news of the gospel to everyone around the world so that all men might know and respond to the love of Christ.

Simply Put: We exist to make disciples of Jesus who will join God in bringing the message of the gospel to the world around us.

Our History

Calvary Chapel Southeast is a church located in Milwaukie, Oregon. We began as a home bible study in March of 1992. After sensing the Lord's blessing and provision, it became apparant that we should establish a church in the North Clackamas area where we would spend our first three years. In June of 1995, as the church continued to grow the Lord was leading us out of the area, and we felt led by Him to relocate to a building known as "the little red church" in Southeast Portland. We remained there for 7 years hosting 3 Sunday services every week. We knew we needed to find a larger facility and at the beginning of 2002 the Lord opened the door for us to move into a larger facility back in the North Clackamas area just down the street from our first building. Throughout the life of our church we have always desired to remain open and flexible to the leading of the Lord in everything we do.

Affiliation

We are an affiliate of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM) in California. Although each Calvary Chapel church is autonomous in function, we share the basic philosophy of ministry and doctrine as that of CCCM. We believe the Church is both local and universal. We see ourselves locally as belonging to the body of Christ universally, the body being made up of those truly redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ, who hold to the fundamental doctrine of Scripture.

Goals & Gatherings

Of primary importance is the teaching of God's word. We believe God has given us everything we need for life in His word. We believe it is the church's function to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. When sheep are healthy they reproduce. It is our goal that the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed locally and globally. We desire to provide a place of balanced ministry in an atmosphere of worship, discipleship, teaching, and fellowship.

We've been blessed to be known for creating an atmosphere many find less threatening, leaving an open door for the many who, for whatever reasons, may not be receptive toward traditional church. Yet, we are firmly committed to sound Biblical teaching. In our services, we desire to be led and be dependent upon the working of the Holy Spirit, who enables us to do what God has called us to do.
